WESTSHORE TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN STUDY

The Consultant has release its Final Report which remains a Draft for the Township until Council formally considers and receives it. Council has a number of options on how and when it decides to accept the report. Council may, adopt it with modifications, adopt it in principal or receive it as information.

The Township of Severn initiated the development of a Transportation Master Plan (TMP) in March 2009 to address the need for and impact(s) of transportation related improvements for the Westshore Settlement Area.

The intent of the TMP is to identify infrastructure requirements for the existing and future needs of the area transportation system. The scope of the master plan is broad and includes an analysis of the system in order to outline the framework for future improvements.

The TMP does not focus solely on a site specific problem. Rather it recommends a set of improvements over a 25 year period. The TMP provides a road map for current and future Councils to make informed decisions with respect to transportation improvements for the Westshore area. It is entirely possible that some improvements may not be implemented within the timeframe of the study or at all. It is also possible that some improvement alternatives may be implemented much sooner than planned. The TMP recommendations for future improvement in some instincts are dependent on demand and desirability. Other projects are dependent on site specific project Environmental Assessment (EA) approvals. The EA process provides a higher level of design alternatives and more public participation.
