West Street road extension to improve access for residents and emergency services

The West Street extension project will provide a safer approach for road users and also allow for improved access for services in the event of an emergency. The project is funded in part by the Canada Community-Building Fund, a permanent source of federal funding for local infrastructure.

Ordering now open for SSEA’s annual tree seedling program

Severn, Ontario: Township of Severn and the Severn Sound Environmental Association (SSEA) are working together to provide property owners with low priced, native tree and shrub seedlings for planting in spring 2024. The deadline for orders is Friday, January 12, 2024. Due to the popularity of the program many species sell out quickly. 

Trees provide many benefits and continue to do so year after year.

Benefits include:

• absorbing carbon and air pollutants
• buffering noise (traffic, construction, etc.)

Our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) will be closed on Friday, December 22 at 12:00 p.m. for the holiday season. We will reopen Tuesday, January 2 at 8:30 a.m.

Residents are invited to attend the Master Servicing Plan public meeting on December 5

Severn is reminding residents of the Public Information Centre (PIC) tomorrow night for the Servicing Master Plan (SMP). Registration is not required as this is a drop-in event. 

All are welcome to attend the PIC scheduled for Tuesday, December 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Township's Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn). 

The event gives the public an opportunity to view information about the SMP project and meet with the study team.

Notice of Uhthoff Trail closure for bridge rehabilitation work

Notice details

A portion of the Uhthoff Trail between Coldwater and Fesserton will be closed starting Monday, December 4 at 7:00 a.m. for bridge rehabilitation.

The work will include:

• repairs to perforated areas of the beams
• replacement longitudinal stringers (beams)
• new deck wearing boards 
• erosion repair

McPherson-Andrews Contracting Ltd. will be implementing various safety measures, such as:

• security fencing
• project notice signs
• warning signs
