Ward 5 Vacancy
Township of Severn is seeking candidates for the position of Ward 5 Councillor.
The successful candidate will become a member of Township Council, representing the residents of Ward 5.
Community-oriented individuals are encouraged to apply to join the Township of Severn to contribute to promoting a sustainable, fiscally responsible, safe and healthy community while supporting our heritage and culture.

Am I eligible to apply?
Under the Municipal Elections Act, candidates must be eligible to vote in Severn and must meet the following qualifications:
- live in Severn or be the owner or tenant of land in Severn or spouse of such owner or tenant
- be a Canadian citizen
- be at least 18 years old
- not be prohibited from voting under subsection 17(3) or otherwise by law
How do I apply?
Interested individuals are invited to submit the required application, candidate information release form, and a detailed resume to Alison Gray, Clerk, no later than December 4, 2020 at 4 p.m., to the Township of Severn, 1024 Hurlwood Lane, PO Box 159, Orillia, Ontario L3V 6J3 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
When will interviews be held and a candidate selected?
A Special Council meeting will be held on December 10, 2020 to interview candidates and select the new member.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Township Council and Committee meetings are being held electronically.
When will the new Ward 5 Councillor be appointed?
The new Ward 5 Councillor will be appointed and sworn into office at a Special Council meeting on December 16, 2020.
