Reporting directly to the Mayor and Council, the Chief Administrative Officer is the Township's senior appointed official responsible for providing organizational leadership to municipal staff in the delivery of municipal services to the Township's residents and businesses. The Chief Administrative Officer also acts as the principal advisor to Council in the development and implementation of public policy.
The CAO directs the development of the operating and capital budgets, work programs and standards to ensure the delivery of high quality services in a timely, responsible and cost effective manner, and is directly responsible for the following:
- Corporate Customer Services and Communications
- Mayor and Council Support
- Management Leadership and Policy Development
- Economic Development
- Human Resources
- Corporate Strategic Initiatives
The Chief Administrative Officer's office includes oversight of Health and Safety, Corporate Communications and Continuous Improvement initiatives consistent with Council and the Township's Strategic Plan. The CAO is responsible to the Mayor and Members of Council for the co-ordination and administration of all departments and operations of the municipality. The CAO ensures efficient and effective operation of the municipality through management and leadership. The CAO advises Council on policy matters and provides policy and program development.
Through the CAO's office Health and Safety and Human Resources are administered. The CAO's office supports Management with current health and safety issues, and ensures that employees work in a healthy and safe environment and are compliant with applicable legislation. Human Resources is also administered through the CAO's office including benefit plan administration, corporate training and recruitment.
