 Public Works & Cemetery

The Corporation of the Township of Severn administers and promotes the professional operations of municipal cemeteries for the purpose of dignified burials and cremations.  Currently, the Township of Severn owns and operates the Coldwater Cemetery, located on Craddock Street.

The Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations requires that the Township of Severn complies with the Ontario Cemetery Act, as well as consumer protection under the Funeral, Burial, and Cremation Service Act.  The role of the Ministry is to protect you, as a Consumer.  This includes making sure cemeteries are well kept for your loved ones now and in the future.

Interments and plot maintenance

The Township of Severn offers plots for full burial and cremation purposes.  Care and maintenance for each site is included in the fees for a cemetery lot. This includes seeding and re-seeding of plots and lot surfaces, seasonal cutting of grass and weeds, snow removal and other maintenance to uphold the peaceful appearance of the cemetery.

Columbarium niches are also available for cremated remains. The columbarium is an above-ground structure with niches that can receive up to two cremated remains.
